I Sleep, Therefore I Feel

An archive of the body at rest. Some things the body knows before the mind does. A heavy feeling that settles in overnight. Restlessness before a hard week. Calm after something gets resolved. Sleep is where the body registers all of this first.

Most sleep tracking today is built to give you a verdict: good sleep, bad sleep, a score. I Sleep, Therefore I Feel looks at it differently. What if a sleep record wasn't a judgment, but something closer to a diary. Not a dashboard, not a diagnosis, but an archive of the body at rest?

The concept builds on something we already know: disrupted sleep is one of the earliest signs that mental health is slipping. But instead of only tracking disruption, I wanted to design for the opposite. What does regular, undisturbed sleep look like as a record, over weeks? Does it have its own shape, its own pattern you could actually read?

The book is a first proposal for that kind of design system. It doesn't try to give answers. It offers a way of looking at sleep, and an argument that what we leave behind at night is worth paying attention to. It's handsewn, made from reusable 200gr paper and fabric, with self-made images throughout. I wanted it to feel more like a personal object than a piece of tech.

This was made for the Innovative Conceptualisation course, an open brief where the idea didn't need to actually work or be technically feasible. It was meant to be a space to think freely. That freedom is exactly what let this project become something in between design research and a personal essay, and it's a way of working I want to bring into branding: start from a feeling, then build a system and a form around it.
